Mime and Improvisation Workshop on Wednesday 11th July, from 7pm to 9.30pm, at Spectrum Days, Old Coach Road

Adult Mime and Improvisation Workshop – Building confidence through drama with Emily Hastings

Cost: £5 for Members of Droitwich Arts Network. £10 for Non-members. No refunds unless the event is cancelled.
A maximum of 12 people can participate in this workshop.

Click HERE to buy tickets for this event using a credit or debit card.

If you experience any difficulty booking online, please email to: artsfest@droitwichartsnetwork.org .

The aim of this workshop is for people to come together, meet new people and have a lot of fun. Whether you’ve always enjoyed acting or have never tried it but would like to give something new a try then this is the evening for you. The session will be very relaxed and informal: we will start with a warm up and some drama based ice breakers. Following this we will do a number of fun and rewarding mime, improvisation and public speaking exercises both as a whole group and in smaller teams. The exercises will be designed to enhance confidence in the both the work place and in personal situations. We will also look at techniques to overcome nerves in situations such as job interviews, important meetings and any other circumstances which may be applicable to individuals.

Emily Hastings studied drama from a young age and undertook a number of LAMDA examinations including the ALAM where she obtained a diploma in 1997 which qualified her to teach drama privately. Emily also has a BA Hons degree in performing Arts (2003).  She has experience of working with children and adults in all areas of drama.

Nina Lewis Worcestershire Poet Laureate 2017-18 has poetry published in a range of anthologies including Paper Swans Press, Fair Acre Press and Shabda Press in magazines including Abridged, Under the Radar and Here Comes Everyone and online. Nina's debut pamphlet 'Fragile Houses' was published by V. Press in 2016.

Roy McFarlane was born in Birmingham of Jamaican parentage and has been Birmingham’s Poet Laureate. Roy’s contributed to numerous anthologies and enjoyed success with his first collection, Beginning With Your Last Breath, Nine Arches Press (2016). A second collection The Healing Next Time will be out in October 2018.

Since retiring from teaching John Mills has devoted his time to poetry; performing at festivals and events all over the UK. Never scared of exploring the, “dark places,” Helen Mort described his work as, “Compassionate, bold and generous,” and Jean Atkin described his recent appearance at Ludlow as “Barnstorming”. He is likely to make you laugh and cry at the same time.

Liz Mills has been a teacher and actor, before deciding to write her own words rather than spouting others’. Born in Yorkshire and brought up in the North of Scotland, she now lives in Stone, Staffordshire and has performed in venues from Callander to Sussex. She writes from personal experience, often  with a historical or feminist perspective.
